Director, Larry Silverman, created the film Flesh and Blood to document the emerging world of extreme body modification and its pioneering artist, Steve Haworth. Our task was to create a website for the documentary that would excite the masses and serve as a platform for the film's distribution. The unique challenge of the project was to speak to audiences whose comfort level with the topic ranged from familiar to horrified.
Our solution was to create an experience that used abstract shapes, sounds, and overall ambiance to give viewers the feeling of body suspension (a key topic of the film) instead of showing the act. Fleshandbloodmovie.com literally groans and sighs as the user navigates through its contents. The shadows of suspended flesh both excite and horrify newcomers to the sights and sounds of the art form.
We also created matching DVD packaging and marketing materials for the film. Our client was delighted with the results and has experienced a steady sales increase for the Flesh and Blood DVD.
